Janet Riley is a CIINDE-certified Holistic Nurse and Nurse Coach who has been a Registered Nurse since 1984. She has been in independent practice for over 20 years and has training in numerous integrative therapies, including meditation, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), herbalism, Ayurveda, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, End-of-Life Doula training, and Bowen therapy.  

Her journey began with meditation, studying an advanced meditation program in the early 1980s that continues to be her daily practice. She has studied and practiced various energy therapies, including Therapeutic Touch and multiple Reiki modalities (Tera Mai Reiki, Usui/Tibetan Reiki, and Karuna® Reiki), which she has been teaching since 1998.  

Janet’s study of Ayurveda began after she was hired as an RN at the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, in the mid-1980s.  She worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings, providing education, training, and supervision in Ayurvedic therapies, including panchakarma. These programs, offered over 5–7 days, focused on rejuvenation, restorative care, and treating conditions through the lens of ancient Ayurvedic wisdom.  

In 1999, Janet discovered Bowen therapy, which became a hallmark of her holistic practice. She has incorporated Bowen therapy, Reiki, and EFT into her independent practice for over two decades.  In 2007, she was offered instructor training by the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia, which she completed in 2010. As a senior instructor and the owner of Bowen Training Academy, she teaches Bowen therapy to allied health professionals and offers certification and advanced-level instruction. Her focus on teaching nurses Bowen therapy through a nursing lens led to the development of Building Bowen Business for Nurses, a program that supports nurses in developing their own independent practices.  

Janet completed TheCIINDE© Holistic Nurse & Nurse Coach Program in early 2021 as part of the first cohort.  She has been an Advisor for TheCIINDE© since Cohort 2 and became Lead Advisor in Cohort 7. She co-developed The Holistic Nurse Reiki Program alongside Kim Derkach and Sherry Hole and is an instructor in EFT Through the Nursing Lens Program. She obtained board certification in Holistic Nursing (2023) and Nurse Coaching (2024) through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.  

Janet is a life longer learner that continues to adapt and grow her knowledge based on current trends and research.
